A theatrical blast of fresh air... [Sleep Tight] is an audacious rock-’n’-roll concoction that never stops surprising.
— The New York Times
Leschen and Sauter succeed in producing a refreshingly hummable and sturdily crafted score – a rarity in the contemporary pop/rock canon.
— Theaterscene
...it works because of Fred Sauter’s excellent book and lyrics as well as Paul Leschen’s catchy music (16 hard-rockin’ songs). The brainchild of both artists, this show is original as it gets.

ABOUT

Paul Leschen (Composer- left) and Fred Sauter (Book and Lyrics- right), met in March 2007 via mutual friend, filmmaker Laura Terruso. They quickly bonded over their love of the film of Hedwig and the Angry Inch as well as early John Waters movies.  In one night, they came up with the basic plot and all the characters for their first show Sleep Tight (formerly titled Bedbugs!!!.)   Their beloved sci-fi musical was critically acclaimed, both in its initial developmental run in NYMF in 2008 and its Off-Broadway run in 2014.  The New York Times called it "A theatrical breath of fresh air."

Together, they have also written the hysterical and truly twisted The Astronaut Love Showand have been developing their satirical take on the Broadway jukebox musical genre in '90s inspired Karma Kills.  In 2015 they formed Leschen & Sauter Musicals, LLC and self-produced a workshop of Astronaut (thanks to the donations of family, friends, and fans!)

They are currently working on their new show Small Pond, as well as rewrites of Sleep Tight, which has been optioned by a new producer.
